I have tested a few Linux Live CD distros on a Dell Latitude D620 with IPW3945ABG wifi adapter. Below shows the Live CDs that managed to handle IPW3945ABG wifi card with WPA-PSK enabled, out-of-the-box ! Many of the new Intel-based notebooks come with this Intel-based wireless adapter.
These Live CD distros use the IPW3945 driver. I hope that this article would quash any fear of accidentally buying a non- compatible wifi adapter.
As of 18th of June 2007, I have started using Dell Inspiron 640m to test the IPW3945 driver of distros. With this new notebook, I can also test the Instal- lation media. Prior to this, I could only test the Live media. Below are the very recent Installation distros and Live CDs/DVDs Linux distributions that support IPW3945 wifi adapter out-of-the-box.
-Pardus Kurulan 2007.2 beta. -Fedora-7-Live-i686. -Fedora-7-KDE-Live-i686. -Fedora-7-Live-x86_64. -Fedora-7-KDE-Live-x86_64. -Fedora-7-i386-DVD. -Fedora-7-x86_64-DVD. -Elive 1.0 (work-out-the-box only after being installed into the hard disk).
