A few days ago, I had a chance to test a few Kde and Gnome-based Live CD distros on my Dell Dimension 3000 desktop that has a pentium D celeron processor with 2800Mhz clock speed and a mere 256Mb ddr sdram. I found this .........

This desktop is based on the Intel's 865G chipset. The 3D effects
were supported but showed lots of lagging. Another 128Mb of
ram would have make a big difference.

Usable on the system:-
Vector Linux 5.8 Live rc1.
Mandriva Spring One.
MCNLive-Toronto.
PCLinuxOS 2007.
Slax 6.0.0 rc3.
Knoppix 5.1.1

Backtrack 2

Very slow on the system:-
Sabayon Linux 3.3 miniEdition.
Pardus Calisan 2007.1.
Berry 0.79

Too slow and not usable:-
SimplyMepis 6.5 32bit.
Kubuntu 7.04 32bit.
Ubuntu 7.04 32bit.
Ubuntu 6.06 32bit
