Ubuntu 7.04 (via the Restricted Drivers Manager) could only tell me that the graphic card in my Compaq Presario V3222AU notebook needed proprietary Nvidia driver. However, Ubuntu 7.10 tribe 2 (via the Restricted Drivers Manager) managed to inform me that I could also have the Broadcom's proprietary bcm43xx firmware for my Compaq Presario V3222AU notebook's Dell 1390 wlan adapter (with Broadcom's bcm4311 chipset). The open source bcm43xx driver relies on the bcm43xx proprietary firmware.
Needed Nvidia graphic driver. Below is the sequence of events that occured when I click on the check-box to enable the usage of the proprietary Nvidia graphic driver for my Nvidia's GeForce Go 6150 graphic card. The screenshots below have been arranged in proper order.
